Okay, I just saw the update about the partial recording, and I was so close to screaming in joy! Unfortunately it's 2:30 AM so I couldn't. How did you find a partial recording? Is only half of the manuscript in existence? Did you find anything else about the piece itself (like why it was composed)? And if there is a complete manuscript somewhere, will it be released onto the internet, allowing for a complete recording to come out?
Well, it's not too far into the day here yet, but already this has made my day!

Come on, doesn't anyone have anything to say about this? Sorry for not replying. I was busy last month. I also asked around and even my friend who sent me the file but no one knew anything about this piece. |

That's very strange how your friend had the file but didn't know anything about it. The file came from a Chopin edition from Europe. My friend however told me the booklet said nothing about the piece. |

I seem to recall someone telling me of a recording of the canon on an lp titled "Unknown Chopin" (released on Pearl Records). I had heard the piece on "Music Through The Night" back when Art Hoehn was the host. I wrote and requested him to play it again but he wrote back saying that an employee had made off with most of the rare lps when the station switched to Cds... so no canon.
Anyway, I have been going on the assumption that the canon was a finished composition, and have ben irritated when each new "complete" recording of Chopin's works has omitted it.
Being the eternal optimist, I'm still hoping that the lost Veni Creator will turn up in a dusty Parisian attic.

What's an lp?
I hate being negative, but I don't think the Canon was finished. If you search for any CD with the piece on it, you'll see that they all only have partial recordings (just like the one here). I wonder what happened to the piece, and why it wasn't published like other recently found compositions (Nocturne in C Minor, Prelude in A-flat Major, and I think the Waltz in F-sharp Minor "Melancolique"). Maybe the other part of the Canon was lost in the fire in Ludwika's house.
I really hope the complete score is found (if it was completed), because I love the thought of getting a new Chopin piece!

An "lp" is 1970's slang for a record album (lp = long player).
I agree, I hope the completed piece (if it exists) eventually turns up.
