Well, we actually know everything about many pianists. So tell me, Who is the WORST Pianist that you know?

For me, is Horowitz, he doesnt put the passion that the piece need.

I don't quite agree. Lots of people like Horowitz. He was able to make any work sound effective (even though sometimes a little bit weird). I personally like his reading of Chopin's Mazurka Op.33 No.4 more than any other pianists.

Can you give some examples that "he doesn't put the passion that the piece needs" ? I find his playing of Rachmaninoff's Concerto No.3 with Zubin Meta really passionate!

Well, isn't he the greatest pianist of the 20th century? Even though his playing is not traditional (he changed score markings a lot!), he's favored among audience.

Well,
I would say Mr. Ax who I don't like listening playing Chopin. With all his reputation, concerts, experience he just doesn't have what it takes to truly play Chopin. Technique is not enough.  A pianist has to have heart, certain state of mind, and a passion to play Chopin.  Ax's dinamics are poor, he doesn't breathe along with the peices, doesn't put it through his heart.
Not anyone can play Tchaikovskiy or Chopin, no matter how good they get technicaly, there is a lot more to their music...

I have Mr. Ax's DVD of Chopin Concerto No.2. He was like mumbling/singing when playing.

It's true that once one gets through the tech, one still has to deal with the expression in Chopin's music.
