Me too. I played it at the end of a party at my department head's home and people loved it! Cool

hi,
I love it
it's the final piece of the movie "la note bleue" of Andrzej Zulawski
Janusz Olejniczak plays it and it's so precious
the way of his fingers moves over the piano, i saw on the cinema time ago
so touching and beautiful...
great piece of music, really

I haven't seen that movie but that piece is absolutely overplayed.  Cool

It definitely is overplayed, if you can ever consider a classical piece overplayed these days.... Roll Eyes

That said, it's beauty and depth is unmistakable, even though Chopin only wrote it as an exercise for his sister. In some ways it is the quintessential Chopin piece, and it has such an emotional - but not sad - melancholy about it that is so characteristic of him. There are definitely more complex and overall better nocturnes, but it is still a great piece.

I definitely enjoy that piece, both playing and listening to it. It's one of my favourite Chopin's nocturnes and one of those which I enjoy listening to the most. But I agree there are many more complicated and demanding nocturnes.

When I play it, at the beginning I often try to get more sound in the left hand than regulary needed, because I really enjoy listening to left hand and gradually making it a bit faster, although my teacher told me I'm overdoing it. But it is just beautifull.

One thing is the tempo of this piece. Some play really slowly, which enhances its expressiveness; others play at normal pace, which is brighter. I wonder which way is the Chopin's way to play this piece though.  Huh
