Dear Anh!

I hope it's not a problem if I called You Anh.

Asuming You wrote the list of Chopin's work that can be found at "Work list", I would like to ask You a question.

I recently started to write an essay on Chopin. I wrote 30 pages in Microsoft Word about his life and music. Hopefully, one day I will have a material to publish a book.
First chapter is about his family, childhood, education, first signs of his genious music mind, traveling in Poland when he was young and his playing and compositions when he was still a child.
Second chapter is about second part of his life; when he traveled out of Poland. Some sentences how he felt and what did he do when he was in Austria and Germany, about his setlement and life in Paris, first big love Marynja Wodzinski, second big love Aurora Dudevant (George Sand); trips to Spain with her and getting suddenly sick there, trip to Italy with her and spending time in Nohant with her and then the end of that love with Geroge sand.
Third chapter is about his life in 1848 and 1849 year, which were his last two years.
Fourth chapter is about his improvisations and influence on modern music (for now it's really short, also as fifth chapter so far).
Fifth chapter is about the events that are being made all around the world in his honnor.
Sixth chapter is his work list.
Seventh chapter is a list of sites and books I used.

That's the structure so far.

I would like You to ask You about this sixth chapter. I thought to translate the work list I found here at "Work list" part of this site, and use it, in pretty similar way. For example, let's take Etudes:

Etide Op. 10 (br. 1 - br. 12)                  1829 - 1833
Br. 1 u C - duru (Waterfall)
Br. 2 u a - molu (Chromatic)
Br. 3 u E - duru (Tristesse)
Br. 4 u cis - molu (Torrent)
Br. 5 u Ges - duru (Black keys)
Br. 6 u es - molu
Br. 7 u C - duru (Toccata)
Br. 8 u F - duru (Sunshine)
Br. 9 u f - molu
Br. 10 u As - duru
Br. 11 u Es - duru (Arpeggio)
Br. 12 u c - molu (Revolutionary)
Etide Op. 25 (br. 13 - br. 24)                  1835 - 1837
Br. 1 u As - duru (Aeolian harp)
   Br. 2 u f - molu (Bees)
   Br. 3 u F - duru (Carthwheel / Horseman)
   Br. 4 u a - molu
   Br. 5 u e - molu (Wrong notes)
   Br. 6 u gis - molu (Thirds)
   Br. 7 u cis - molu (Cello)
   Br. 8 u Des - duru (Sixths)
   Br. 9 u Ges - duru (Butterfly)
   Br. 10 u h - molu ( Octaves)
   Br. 11 u a - molu (Winter wind)
   Br. 12 u c - molu (Ocean)
Etudes de la Methode des Methodes
(Trois nouvelles etudes) (br. 25 - br. 27)            1839 - 1840
   Br. 1 u f - molu
   Br. 2 u As - duru
   Br. 3 u Des - duru

Am I allowed to do this with Your approval? The way You did Your work list I find very good and it's most convenient work list I ever found. If I would translate it and use it in similar form, I would point out it's scource is Your work list I found at this site, www.ourchopin.com. I would be very happy if You allow me to do this but if You think I shouldn't do this, I understand.

Thank You for reading!

Sure, you can use it. However, the work list is in alphabetical order with numbering notation in [] that might not be consistent with all score editions you might find.

I will check the list I found in encyclopedia with the one You made. So far I see there are some differences related to the year Chopin wrote particular pieces. In most of the cases the differences are irrelevant (1 or 2 years) but there are couple of pieces where differences are major and related to pieces which are used for explanations of some periods in his life (like preludes, Op. 28). There are also two pieces for which encyclopedia claims Chopin used different key.

Do You want me to send the differences I find to Your e - mail, send u personal message or post them here? Or do nothing xD

I have found some more differences beetwen wikipedia's information about Chopin's works and worklist here. If You want I can also send those to You so You can have a look at them whenever You want.

Maybe I should just post everything I did relating to Chopin's worklist so You guys all see it and help if You want and if You can. Of course, if You are interested.
